Well under Francona, Boston came back from 3-0 and 3-1 deficits in the 2004 and 2007 ALCS's. That itself says a lot.

If you could bring back a thread from the old OTR, which would it be? There were the gameday threads, the first hack attempt, the AIM quotes thread, the KIR threads, among others.
-
Who is the best manager in the game today? Mike Scioscia? Terry Francona? Discuss. And while we're at it, which general manager has done the most for their team?
-
If you find any videos you want to be uploaded on the OTR YT through the offseason and season, post the link in here. If you request a play from the previous night, I'll look for it as well. youtube.com/otrbasketball

1. How much do you think will performance enhancing drugs (PED) affect the game of a basketball player? Not enough knowledge on PEDs to answer that. 2. Will a PED scandal severely affect the NBA the same way it has wreaked havoc on MLB? It depends, should a scandal arise, hopefully things will go differently with the NBA. There shouldn't be testing that players are promised will be kept confidential. We're seeing what's happening with the 2003 MLB list, three names are leaked, those players are attacked, but we can't just let out the rest of the names and say goodbye to the 'roid era because of the deal. That, along with other factors, has contributed to a 6-year old problem still very alive and has, in many people's eyes, damaged the game. 3. Who is your favorite NBA player, Shaq, Kobe, Lebron, Wade, who? IF (hypothetically) he is found out to be using PED, what should be done to him? I guess there should be a consistent suspension system similar to the MLB's, and it should also be based on the effects of the banned PEDs. 4. Do you think that the NBA should start testing its athletes for PED? Why? Well they've already started, but they should continue. Athletes may have learned their lesson about PEDs to an extent, but in the last few weeks, I've heard three athletes say they were not careful with the supplements they were taking. 5. Finally, let's just say, WHAT IF Michael Jordan was found to have used PED during his playing years, should he be reviled? Should his records be erased? Should an asterisk be placed beside his name and his records and awards? Well that is based on a lot of things: the effects of PEDs in the NBA, whether a scandal has risen and other players have also been found taking PEDs, etc.

http://www.nba.com/media/nets/10_game_jersey_plan.jpg That's the only photo that exists of him wearing a Nets jersey anywhere, and Wade's is in the way . They didn't even have a press conference for the former Magic players.

Nets' Courtney Lee not happy to be in New Jersey
Teletopez replied to Warren2ThaG's topic in Brooklyn Nets Team Forum
First off, what kind of friend is Howard if he's embarrassing his buddy and telling the world that Lee still hasn't gotten over this? If this is true... It's been almost two months since the trade. Whether you're entering your second season or your twentieth, there's no reason you should still be sulking over this. You can handle it much better. He should be grateful he was able to play in the Finals in his first year. But there's a good possibility he's fine. Lee's been in touch with the team frequently, and we'd probably be hearing from more people than Howard if he were so unhappy. -
Boston Red Sox @ New York Yankees
Teletopez replied to Teletopez's topic in Baseball Gameday Discussion
Well there is a lot to say about it. It was a 2-run game, and Francona wanted the bleeding to stop in a must-win match. Ramirez was not going to hit someone and put a RISP in the seventh inning. There wasn't even a warning issued. I must say, that was ridiculous. -
They stopped booing him after the first or second time because they got what they wanted, the win.

Yankees win! That's all that's necessary right now. Words can't describe much about today's game anyway. -
Yankees acquire Chad Gaudin from San Diego . Potential #5 guy in the rotation. Link

An exciting opening, 4 hour game. There's plenty to talk about. Jason Bay missed today's game and will miss tomorrow's. There's a possibility of missing the whole series. Joba's pitch count rose quickly. He dug himself into a couple of jams but got out of them. The two long balls accounted for 3 of his 4 ER. He did walk a career high seven batters, but it needs to be taken into account that 3 of them followed a half hour inning in which he got cold. Posada's baserunning error bothered me for a bit, but he bounced back with later on with a double and 3-run home run. Damon, Melky, and Teixeira also had HR's. We can't get overconfident following this win. We hit well off a pitcher with an ERA over 7. Tomorrow and Sunday, we're facing Beckett and Lester, and our offense will hopefully be ready for that. -
All the games against San Antonio these past several years have been frustrating. They have been dominating us time and time again. In one Nets-Spurs game I went to, we blew a 16 point lead. In another, we had the Bowen-Carter deal, and Carter got ejected when he was powering the team and had 43 points. We had a Kidd ejection in San Antonio two years ago. Then this past season, we had a tough 3-point loss in San Antonio, and at home, we had a close game until Bonner hit 4 3's and everything went down from there.

Prince Fielder Attempts To Enter Dodgers Locker Room
Teletopez replied to Legacy's topic in Baseball Forum
http://i29.tinypic.com/256fldv.jpg 93 MPH, it was away from his head, and he has a right to be upset about it, but not to the extent where he charges to the Dodgers clubhouse. -
We closed out the road trip well with three consecutive wins, bouncing back from a rough series in Chicago. Mitre improved a lot from his last two outings. Though he couldn't go very far, he had the sinker working, was hitting targets more often, and kept the game close. We finish the road trip 5-4 with momentum going back home to host the BoSox.

The long anticipated four-game series. John Smoltz (2-4, 7.12) vs. Joba Chamberlain (7-2, 3.58) Josh Beckett (13-4, 3.27) vs. A.J. Burnett (10-5, 3.89) Clay Buchholz (1-1, 6.05) vs. CC Sabathia (11-7, 3.95) Jon Lester (9-7, 3.79) vs. Andy Pettitte (9-6, 4.35)

Prince Fielder Attempts To Enter Dodgers Locker Room
Teletopez replied to Legacy's topic in Baseball Forum
Well I don't know why he was that mad. Manny got hit, so he should expect to get hit also, being one Milwaukee's best hitters. Plus, the ball was aimed low, it's not like it was thrown at his head. -
We attacked early and we attacked late. It's only the second time in Halladay's career that he's allowed back to back homeruns, and he tied a career high of 3 HR's allowed. That was one heck of an outing prior to the three homers. He was still able to pitch the complete game with a low pitch count. Mitre has to show he can pitch better than he did in his last two starts. Hopefully, our offense will be there to support him if he struggles.

Today: Andy Pettitte (8-6, 4.51) vs. Roy Halladay (11-4, 2.68) Tomorrow: Sergio Mitre (1-0, 7.90) vs. Mark Rzepczynski (1-2, 3.25)

Most memorable game you've been to
Teletopez replied to Celtics3420's topic in General NBA Discussion
I thought you were also planning to go to the Celtics-Knicks game after that. Out of all sports games I've attended, the Yankees-Mets game where Castillo dropped the ball was the most memorable. Out of basketball games, the most memorable was the Nets coming back from a 20+ point deficit against Washington and winning by 2. -
Thursday's game is still really bothering me. Ted Barrett's strike zone was ridiculous, and then Pierzynski's "slide" into second base that caused Cano to throw the ball wide and prevent an inning ending DP and caused a run to score. Regardless, we need to put it behind us and rest well tomorrow. Two games at the Rogers Centre and back home we go to host Boston for four games.
-
The thing is Burnett, who has been red hot, struggled terribly yesterday, so maybe it was just a rough series for the whole team. Also, CC really only had one bad inning, and the other frames went pretty smooth. I didn't see a whole lot of today's game, but his main problem last start was bringing out the killer 2-strike pitches he usually has.
-
Well that was a very rough series, but at least we ended it with a win. Great to see Melky hit for the cycle. He hit the triple right after I turned on the radio, and I was wondering at first why John Sterling was so excited. Jerry Hairston Jr. played really well yesterday and today. He went a combined 3-6 with a couple of RBI's, and he flashed some leather as well. After an off-day tomorrow, we play two games in Toronto.
