  2. If we lose Chuck and strike out in free agency we would have no center...can Morey get a legitimate starting center through a trade?

  6. Great block by Davis to win it. Not sure what the Tar Heels were thinking, there was still plenty time of left and they were only down one. Should have fouled.
  7. Who are the top 3 free agents you would like your team to bring in? 1. DeAndre Jordan - he may be restricted but Jordan has a desire to return to Houston and he might be the only center in the free agent pool we can at least sign to a offer sheet. 2. Luc Mbah a Moute - one of the best perimeter defenders in the league and still pretty young, could be our Shane Battier replacement. The problem? Like Jordan he's a restricted free agent. 3. Tayshaun Prince - depends whether or not the Rockets are rebuilding but if they truly want to make a push for the playoffs then we need a starting small forward. Budinger could always improve and there is Marcus Morris but as of right now neither look like legitimate starters. Honorable mention: Kyrylo Fesenko - if the Rockets can't bring in one of the big name centers, look for them to take a chance at Fesenko. They were interested last season. Nene, Tyson Chandler and Marc Gasol are all being pursued by Houston but it sounds like our front office isn't very confident that they'll get either one.

  9. ^Gotcha. And its not much of a surprise but it appears Chuck's preference is to remain in Houston. http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/features/rumors?date=20111202&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fnba%2ffeatures%2frumors%3fdate%3d20111202#23191
  10. Knicks offered him a one year $5 million deal and he turned it down, they seem intent on preserving their cap space for 2012 and Hayes wants a long term deal. Can't see them working out a deal.

  12. I disagree, I would be more than willing to resign Chuck to a $15 million 3 year deal (remember quality centers are hard to come by) but it hurts our chances in the 2012 free agency. While we probably won't come out with any of the big names (Dwight, etc) but there won't be a better chance for Houston to land a superstar and if the price to pay is to lose Chuck Hayes then so be it. Woj did say after the trade deadline that he would be surprised if Houston didn't land a superstar by 2012. Except Chuck Hayes isn't a power forward (well that was where he started out but he's been great as the Rockets' starting center the past few years) and could be the Raptors' cheaper answer for a center and allow Bargnani to slide over to the 4. A young team like Toronto could have some use for a guy like Hayes whose in the Shane Battier type mold with his intangibles, veteran leadership (he was the Rockets co-captain btw), etc. You were saying that the Raptors should bring in a defensive center to mentor Jonas Valanciunas, well don't look any further than Chuck Hayes who IMO is one of the best technical defenders in the NBA. Its a shame this guy wasn't 3 inches taller. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6f5Uyu6Dv4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiW1S7rD3Y0
  13. http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/sports/nba/111201-five-teams-in-the-hunt-for-chuck-hayes Would love to bring back the Chuckwagon but if he is too much of a hit to our cap space in 2012, it might be best to part ways but if we head into the season without a legitimate starting center we're kind of screwed. Hayes reportedly declined a $5 million one year deal from New York this morning.
  14. Adding onto this, the salary cap for this season is over $58 million and could grow by 2012. http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/2011/11/report-nba-salary-cap-to-remain-at-58-million-rising-in-2012/
  15. You're right the Knicks would come up short with $44,154,703 in committed salaries (I believe the cap is around $55 million so roughly $11 million to spend) during next year's offseason, but they can trim it to $40,411,823 if they decline Toney Douglas' team option and find a way to move Renaldo Blackman's contract.
  16. I might be wrong but won't the Knicks have enough cap space with Billups' expiring? Paul would have to take less than what the team that owns his rights can offer but it is New York, could always make it up with endorsements.
  17. Possible three team deal? http://www.cbssports.com/nba/story/16299009/postups-free-agency-signing-days-away-but-frenzy-exists
  18. If Chris Paul is going to be wearing a Knicks jersey, he might have to wait till free agency. There is no way the NBA will take whatever scraps the Knicks are offering and then take massive heat from the media and fans. There will be SOME team out there that is willing to take the chance at Paul without an extension.

  21. I guess he's their backup plan in case they can't work out a deal for Dwight and they want to make a move to keep Deron Williams happy. With the Nets going after a center, does this mean they intend to shift Lopez to the 4?
  22. Agreed. I can't see Houston or Golden State standing much of a chance if Chandler is only looking to get paid especially if Toronto or New Jersey overpays.
