Ah, like I was, from the doctor that saved my eyesight?

A city (Bartlesville, Oklahoma) had the doctors that gave me the laser treatments that peeled my retinas. They perform Lasik for $1,000.

Oklahoma City's Dean McGee Eye Institute (who saved my eyesight) performed the surgeries needed (vitrectomy, basically). My doctor (who you probably think ripped me off) is affiliated with one that performs Lasik for around $2,000.

Do you wear Nike apparel, by any chance? Or...do you shop at Wal-Mart for your shoes? Just curious.

I don't wear much Nike apparel if any, and I don't shop at Walmart, but people that do are smart and are saving money, but I'm not sure what you're point is.

Well, I actually don't get your point about the Lasik. It's a cosmetic surgery. The price went down (barely) because of other medical advancements, and because Lasik wasn't a necessity.

My point is, would you rather go get your Lasik surgery from an alley, or a legit and reputable eye center? No Lasik surgery is that much cheaper than it was a decade ago.

And even then, none of that has anything to do with health care, since Lasik is cosmetic.

That was the entire point.

Lasik is cheaper because it is not covered by medicare, medicade, ect., all of which are government run programs.

It's also not covered by private insurance, which isn't government-ran.

Boob jobs are pretty cheap, right? $300, maybe? Probably $5 if you find the right doctor? That's in the same boat as Lasik.

I think Socialism would be great but what is the likelyhood that America just becomes Socialist? Probably 3%

well if you turn on Fox News, about 100% chance.

This is a quote that I found on a facebook group that I joined, and it sums up everything pretty damn well.

"So, they just passed a health care plan written by a committee whose chairman says he didn't understand it, passed by a Congress that exempts themselves from it, signed by a president who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese......... and better yet it is to be financed by a country that's broke. PRICELESS"!

Also, did you guys know that in this bill there is now a 10% tax for any indoor tanning service? .

That's actually something I don't understand. But that's the magic of being able to make up my mind about anything and everything, without worrying about my "party" and what they want.

Good. They should. You are the ones complaining about "paying for others in a universal health care system."...People raise their chances SIGNIFICANTLY to get cancer when they use tanning services.

I get your point about the tanning service because I think it is extremely dumb to do, but I don't think that it should be taxed like that, especially when it was hidden in the bill like pretty much everything else.

Now, if you are going to mention cigarettes, that's a totally different story.

The government should have no right to tell people that they are going to tax them because they want to go tanning, or give a 5% tax on cosmetic surgery.

This bill also gives funding to Native American child molesters, which has nothing to do with health-care.

Why are Cigs any different then the other servies? They are all hazardous to your health. If you think it's that important you go tanning, get cosmetic surgery, or buy cigarettes, I have no problem with them taxing it more. We have to remember that taxes pay for IMPORTANT things such as Public Schools, Highways, the new health care bill, etc. it's not like it's just going no where...
