  1. Found the thread. Apparently Bill Simmons did. http://www.otrbasketball.com/forums/topic/18158-bill-simmons-compares-evan-turner-to-adam-morrison/
  2. I know he hasn't done much yet, but from what I'm seeing so far, I'm loving Evan Turner's playstyle. BTW, whoever said he's another Adam Morrison is an idiot.
  3. QB is tougher to play, and probably the most difficult position in sports, but pitcher has the bigger impact. A pitcher can possibly be the only player that defends by striking a batter out, so therefor the pitcher doesn't always need to rely on teammates. There are times when the outfield is needed, but a perfect pitcher always outweighs a perfect outfield. For instance, if you have a pitcher that is so good he strikes batters out 100% of the time, there is no need for an outfield. The pitcher can be the whole defense by himself. For a QB, throwing the ball is just half the battle for a gain in yardage. The receiver has to catch it and advance the ball. There is also the option where the team chooses a play for the running back, where the QB is only relied on to hand the football to him. So while a pitcher can be the whole defense in certain possessions, it is not possible for a QB to be the whole offense at any point in the game. Even if he rushes the ball, he is relying on the linemen to create his path.
  4. I guess I'm not feeling the same excitement as most people. Not that I'm not excited at all, it's just that the WNBA kept my basketball-watching needs in check over the summer, so the break from NBA didn't feel like a big long drought. It's like an extended season, with the WNBA starting right as the NBA playoffs are over, and when the WNBA season ends.. "oh look, NBA preseason starts in just a couple weeks". With that said.... GO HEAT!
  5. I don't have anything against you, and I don't want you banned.
  6. General activity is good, but specifically we need find as many high level basketball minds as we can get. In a perfect world, this site should have almost nothing but intelligent, basketball savvy discussions with minimal arrogance and simple mindedness. Unfortunately, I don't see OTR heading in that direction. Most of the activity here is in off-topic and football parts of the forum. Not to say that if you are posting there that you don't know basketball, but when 24 out of the top 30 posters on this website are most active in forums other than basketball (12 in off-topic, 9 in football, 1 in sim leagues, 1 in video games, and 1 in baseball), it reflects a lot on this forum overall. There are hardly a handful of members here that can talk basketball at a high level, if that. I don't see it getting much better. It hasn't since I've joined, and I haven't been given a reason to see why it will in the future. There needs to be a change. I'm not complaining outright, and I don't hate this forum by any means. I'm just putting a thought out there. Some people are satisfied with the way this forum is... I'm not. I don't want to mod and I don't really know where or how to recruit (though I do know some people I could invite to these forums), but I can create ideas to make this site a better place. Like starting a video game league, which I did with 2K10 where the activity died a bit in the end, but that had a large part to do with 2K11 coming out so soon. If I start another league again, ideally I can see it growing to where it has it's own forum, and even have multiple leagues running with topics having trade discussions and such. Anyway, enough rambling....
  7. Great commercial, great message. +1 for LeBron.
  8. No love for Roddy Beaubois? The guy is going to be given a starting spot when he's back from injury.
  9. That says that the one year in his career where he had a good team, he happened to get injured.
  10. Very good article. I'm extremely glad the team managed to keep him here.
  11. Somewhere in between Kobe, Shaq, Nash, LeBron, Duncan, Dwight, Paul, Wade, Garnett and Deron, Ray, Melo, Amar'e, Iverson, Pierce, Bosh, Kidd, Yao
  12. You can't let the team downgrade the player. T-Mac belongs in the top ten. Top 15 in the very least. As for most overrated? Not too sure. Perhaps Marcus Camby.
  13. His numbers in the preseason suggest a possible break out year. Before he was just a defender and spot up shooter. Now he seems like a guy who can get buckets, and gets them efficiently. I'd like to see how he plays in the regular season before I would decide his real value, but it seems like he's a much more valuable player than earlier in his career.
  14. Not exactly. Ellis was top 6 in scoring last year (maybe not the top in scoring efficiency, but he is still up there) and the Warriors are more well rounded now. My mistake in saying they have a low post player. They don't other than maybe Biedrins for 12 ppg max. For some reason Lee came to mind when I typed the response. And for the record, if I'm going to make an official prediction, I don't think they will make the playoffs. 10th seed is where I'd place them. They are still an improved team from last year's 26 win team in a year full of injuries, and their roster is almost completely different now. Ellis and Curry are the only players remaining on the Warriors that played over 40 games last year.
  15. Ellis is still the team's leader and featured player. That makes him the best, overrated or not. Concerning Lee's defense, he was always outmatched defensively at center, making his defense seem possibly worse than it probably is being outsized all the time. This year he is going to play next to Biedrins, where he can play a position more natural to him. There is chance we could see some level of improvement. Wright and Williams may be considered unproven to a certain extent, but they will both share significant roles, one as a starter and the other as a sixth man. How the writer could only provide one sentence for each shows his lack of knowledge for the team as a whole. He only knew the stars, and that's all he wrote about. There is more to a scouting report than knowing the stars. Well I'd have a reason to believe he's an adequate point guard when he averaged 6 assists per game in his rookie year, was second in the league in ROY votes IIRC, and made it to the Olympic team. I don't expect him to be as ball dominant as he was last year, though. This year, the team has players in the other positions capable have handling the ball and running the offense, like Ellis, Wright, and Williams. The team will be very strong offensively with all the handling and playmakers. Other than Curry and the other perimeter playmakers, Lee has also proven he can pass well, and Biedrins is often considered underrated as a passer as well. The team has plenty of offensive talent and can hurt you in multiple ways. They have shooters, slashers, and post players, as well as improved depth. I can see them making a playoff push, though probably not enough since the West is still very tough.
  16. Looked over at the Warriors and... Wha? As for the rest of the.. scouting report, it spent most of it's time talking about how good Curry and Lee are, and how the writer suspects Ellis will be traded. They failed to mention Dorell Wright's increased freedom in the offense and role as a playmaker, Reggie William's expected versatility to run the point, the overall increased depth the Warrior's have gained in the bigger positions, and the most important bit of all, how the Warriors may become one of the best passing teams in the league. Not a strong analysis of the team, IMO. I might check out the others later. See if there are any better ones.
  17. Simplify sim·pli·fy tr.v. sim·pli·fied, sim·pli·fy·ing, sim·pli·fies To make simple or simpler, as: a. To reduce in complexity or extent. b. To reduce to fundamental parts. c. To make easier to understand.
  18. Kevin Martin will likely be the most efficient scorer in the league this year. You can quote me on that.
  19. Hours... with just 4 teams up for download at the moment. Unfortunately 2K doesn't have the most efficient player making system, not just talking about the looks but the ratings and the tendencies and whatnot, so it takes a long time to do every small detail on each player. I haven't even worked much on tendencies, since those take way too damn long and really don't affect players that much. And it's not like I make the player then I'm done. I have to go and re-edit quite a few times when players shoot too much, their shot doesn't look right, etc, and when I simulate games to make sure their stats are accurate overall. In my next upload I'll include better tendencies, including a few more teams. At the moment I'm working on the Silverstars.
  20. Thanks guys. BTW, I didn't like the way I made Cappie Pondexter. Some players have harder faces to copy than others, and some are pretty much impossible. So anyway, I made some changes... Before: http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv40/The_Poe/Picture38-1.png After: http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv40/The_Poe/Picture36-1.png And that's the third time I edited her face. The first one was awful. http://www.wnba.com/liberty/photos/cappie100824.jpg Looks good enough.
  21. I have a new download up for the WNBA teams, now including the New York Liberty and the Atlanta Dream to go with the Mercury and the Storm. I've worked pretty hard on them... and it's paying off since they're getting a good 100 downloads per day on average without me promoting it through blogs like the other top downloads, and each new uploaded roster manages to stay high in the ratings so far. Here are some pix... doing the best I can with what I got. http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv40/The_Poe/Picture33-1.png http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv40/The_Poe/Picture34-1.png http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv40/The_Poe/Picture32.png
  22. I liked the decision from the start, and I like the subtle changes Triano is making overall. Perhaps he's a better coach than I thought, or maybe he's improving. Earlier I predicted a bad record for the Raptors this year, but now I think there could be a chance for a surprising season... though still not good enough for the playoffs.
