DeSean Jackson calls out Cowboys
Phightins replied to The Regime's topic in NFC Conference Discussion
Because people are idiots. -
Also...Ray Emery will have a new mask when he returns. Sick. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i197/AchsiaShadowweaver/EMERYMASK2.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i197/AchsiaShadowweaver/EMERYMASK1.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i197/AchsiaShadowweaver/EMERYBACK.jpg I think he has Bernie Parent, Pelle Lindbergh, and Ron Hextall on there. Personally my favorite part is the back.

That is true that is a horrible call. However they didn't have the "war room" in Toronto back then, where virtually every camera angle imaginable is available. And they STILL managed to get tonight's call wrong.
-
Nice win. However, the Gagne "no-goal" might be the worst botched review I have ever seen. Inconclusive evidence my [expletive]. When will common sense count as conclusive evidence?
-
Michael Leighton is starting his 8th consecutive game tonight. It will be interesting to see how they handle this when Ray Emery comes back on Saturday night. I am hearing they might carry three goaltenders until Ryan Parent is ready to return to the lineup, at which point they'd obviously have to get rid of one of these guys. Leighton has a better cap hit, but he also has a two way contract which Brian Boucher does not, so Boucher would have to clear waivers.

Decided it was time to fire up a new thread. Anyway, some news today. Scott Eyre retired. Vital member to that World champion bullpen, but I had a feeling he'd retire. He said he'd only come back this year to pitch for the Phillies and it didn't sound like the Phillies were interested in having him back. Also, the Phillies announced their Spring Training invitees. Among them are Dom Brown, Phillippe Aumont, Tyson Gillies, Freddy Galvis, Ryan Vogelsong and about 8 others. Vogelsong is probably the only one with a shot at making the team. He was with Pittsburgh before and spent the last three years in Japan, so he has experience and can start/relieve. He might have a spot on the team. Lets make it three straight pennants!

Well, most of that is because of longevity. He had a few monster years, but overall he was nothing more than just a good player IMO (which for me is not hall of fame credentials). He had a .323 career OBP, which really stands out to me. Clearly there is more to the game (and to hitting) than OBP but for me, if you are a hitter with an OBP that low, if you are going to the hall of fame you have to have something else that is spectacular to make up for it. There is nothing overly spectacular about Dawson, nothing that screams "this guy is a hall of famer".
-
I don't really think Dawson is a hall of famer to be honest. I could see him getting in if it was a really slow year with not much competition, but it makes it even worse that there were 5 or 6 more deserving guys who got snubbed. Just my opinion.

Komisarek didn't play. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zLjcYwIk0Q Lol @ Carcillo. Even though he lost the fight lol @ the hook em horns. I love the bitter Toronto announcers as well. But he made up for it with this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtcsHbpcNMs

Also, I am liking Dan Carcillo more and more with each passing game.
-
Maple Leafs "gooning it up" more than I've ever seen the Flyers do it this year. For ECN.
-
It will be very interesting to see how the Pujols contract plays out. When it's all said and done the Cardinals will be paying $40+ million to two players and will probably be looking at a $140ish million payroll, which is astronomical by their standards.
-
I don't have a problem with Dawson getting in, I just don't think he is as deserving Bert Blyleven, Roberto Alomar, Barry Larkin, Fred McGriff, or Tim Raines (I do however think they will all get in eventually, at least they should). The only voters I will say are idiots are the five who sent in a blank ballot, and the one who voted for David Segui.
-
It will be very interesting for sure. Donovan McNabb, Kevin Kolb, and Michael Vick all have contracts that are up after next season. How they handle this will be intriguing to say the least. As I said, I think McNabb is under-appreciated to the max (and I am well aware of his flaws) and I'd love to have him back, but it might be kind of impossible. I don't know if they'd want him back after next year anyway because of his age (and we all know how the Eagles handle those types of players). Blah, we will see.

Is Stefanski's Seat getting hot yet?
Phightins replied to Smitty's topic in Philadelphia 76ers Team Forum
Lol...is the jury in yet? -
I really, really hope he is back. If they have a repeat of this past Sunday, though, I think the Eagles may decide to move on. Hope not though. And I really hate the "it's the same thing with him every year" argument. This team is competitive and in the playoffs almost every year. Obviously the main goal is to win a Super Bowl but hell, imagine being a Raiders fan, or a Lions fan, or a Chiefs fan, etc etc. I think most of them would kill for the success McNabb has brought this team. Donovan McNabb is 100% the most under-appreciated athlete Philadelphia has ever seen (and likewise, Andy Reid is the most under-appreciated coach). I guess it will take them leaving and this team going down the [expletive]ter for people to realize how lucky we have been as fans over the past decade or so. But until then the [expletive]ing will continue.
-
Lol he never said he would "probably be cut". He said exactly the opposite. Warren just made a very misleading thread title (if that is what you are going by).
-
4-3 USA? Jeez. I won't lie I have not followed this at all.
-
Typical Sixers game. Three losses to the Wizards this year. Sammy D with 20 pts and 20 rebounds though.

Randy Johnson expected to announce retirement
Phightins replied to Phightins's topic in Baseball Forum
It is official. -
Bill Hall is horrible, good deal for Mariners.
-
:o Well it isn't really surprising, but still, when a top 8 or 9 pitcher of all time retires it is kind of a big deal. What a career, if he does indeed call it quits in his conference call tonight.
-
I basically agree. As a Phillies fan I'd obviously be inclined to pick Utley at 2B but he was only a full time player for 4 seasons so I can see why you (and most others) go with Kent.

Sixers waiving Allen Iverson?
Phightins replied to Warren2ThaG's topic in Philadelphia 76ers Team Forum
Your title is very misleading. All that article says is that the Sixers still have a couple days before that clause in his contract kicks in (the one that makes it guaranteed for the rest of the year). As they have said all along, there is a very big chance they keep him around. Nothing has changed since the day they signed him, really. -
