  1. He is awful. I like how he waited until the other night, almost 30 games into the season, to mention how horrible the defense is and how it is bothering him. Really? I could have told you that 5 games in.
  2. Seems like wishful thinking to expect him to be a good set up man right away, I'd think. 33 years old, has been a starter the majority of his career, and has appeared in one game since 2007. Seems unlikely that he'd be able to pitch in 70-80 games. I think he could be a potentially nice pick up, low risk high reward, but to expect him to be the regular set up man right away is what seems weird to me.
  3. Nothing too big. Clothes, a couple DVDs, new headphones, some stuff for my car, and Flyers tickets.
  4. As do 90% of Philadelphia fans, which is the part you can't seem to grasp. Anyway, this debate has gone on at least 5 times on OTR and is just flat out dumb now.
  5. Seems like the games near the top of the list are the most recent, and they gradually get older and older. Not sure if that's a coincidence, but it seemed like they gave an edge to the games freshest on their memories.
  6. http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/20091224_Rumor_enrages_Hartnell_and_Carter.html Figured it was a matter of time until the team said something about this.
  7. The Phillies have agreed to terms with a "mystery reliever". Most think it is either Danys Baez or Mike MacDougal. I hope it's MacDougal, the dude has a ton of ability and I've always thought he could be amazing if paired with the right pitching coach. I have a feeling it's Baez though. Also, Mark DeRosa is leaning towards signing with the Giants, and Justin Duchscherer is re-signing with the A's. I thought the Phillies might be interested in Duchscherer but I guess not.
  8. For once I agree with you. I'd rather be a Philadelphia fan classified as a scum bag than a Miami fan classified as somebody who doesn't care about their teams or doesn't show up to the games. Yeah Flash, those big stereotypes feel nice don't they?
  9. Philadelphia fans are passionate, yes. There are a handful of idiots who do stupid [expletive] like this and continue to give the media and internet know-it-alls more reason to talk down to us and trash us, yes. You put 20,000-80,000 people in one building and there are bound to be a handful of numbskulls, and that goes for any situation. Fact: Philadelphia fans are no better/worse than fans of other big time sports markets in terms of behavior. Don't believe me? Well, get off your asses and go experience games in Philadelphia, then New York, Boston, or Chicago instead of just believing everything ESPN feeds you. You may be surprised!
  10. Well of course only a few people did it, but don't forget that makes every single Philadelphia fan a cruel savage. Duh. Haven't you read this thread?
  11. Haha yeah. Whatever, don't feel like arguing this again. But this does happen everywhere, it's just only a big deal when it happens here. Really annoying for the fans like me, fly3rs, Smitty, and whoever else who goes to games and does not act like that (the large majority of Philadelphia fans). Even more annoying that ugly stuff like this happens just as much in places like New York, Boston, and Chicago but it's rarely a big deal in those cities.
  12. The snow ball fight was another black eye for Philadelphia fans and gives the media and ignorant public yet another excuse to rip on us. I will admit the snow ball fight was embarrassing. But stop with the generalizations.
  13. Don't know about everywhere, but definitely New England. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/2007/12/17/2007-12-17_patriot_fans_taunt_jets_with_fake_camera.html
  14. Phillies and Angels supposedly the two main teams in on Fernando Rodney. Phillies only major need yet to be filled is the bullpen. I have never been that high on Rodney, but it looks like the options are dwindling and he might be the best bet remaining. He'd have to be willing to primarily be the setup man, but the fact that he has experience closing is nice. Also, I really think the Phillies should just give in and give Chan Ho Park whatever he wants to get him to stay. He was, for my money, the most valuable pitcher on the staff last season (well except for Cliff Lee in the postseason, obviously). Losing him and his versatility creates a major void and I don't see anybody else in the organization who can fill it.
  15. Yeah. If John Clayton actually said this, he was misinformed by somebody. I have been watching our local sports channel pretty much all afternoon, including segments with guys who are in the Eagles training complex every day. Nobody said anything, and this would be one of the biggest stories of the year if true. With that said, I would not be shocked if he does retire, he just hasn't decided yet.
  16. Vazquez's AL/NL splits throughout his career are huge. Had a very good season with Atlanta but I think a lot of people need to be convinced that he can pitch in the AL, myself included.
  17. I think he should retire. But like I was saying, our local guys would be all over this if he actually announced he's retiring. We'll see what happens.
  18. Not that I doubt you or your sources, but.... If this were true, it absolutely would be all over the local news around here, and there is nothing about it anywhere.
  19. Wow. That is all I have to say. I attended the 8-2 loss to Washington a couple weeks ago and I attended tonight as well. Honestly the 8-2 game was more bearable to watch than tonight. This is a disgraceful waste of talent.
  20. I do not like NASCAR at all so I will not go too far to defend it, but I do know a little bit about it and the general perception of it couldn't be more wrong. And a lot of that is showing through in this thread.
  21. Look, I am not a NASCAR fan, but there is so much ignorance in this country when it comes to it. People who say you don't need to be an athlete to drive a stock car have no idea what they are talking about. Clearly it is not like football, basketball, or hockey in terms of pure athleticism, but it is also not as simple as taking an easy stroll around the block in your average car (despite what people think). Also, Jimmie Johnson has dominated that sport just as much, if not more than Tiger Woods and Roger Federer have dominated theirs. Seems like a good pick to me.
  22. Tonight's game should be interesting. The Panthers basically came out and said they will have a bulls eye on Mike Richards and will seek "revenge" for the hit on David Booth in October. They also called up two goons from the AHL yesterday. Coincidence? I think not.
  23. Give me a break dude lol. Same thing happens when it snows in New England, difference is the announcers don't feel the need to trash Boston fans.
  24. Also, Daryl Johnson and Tony Siragusa are jokes. I knew they had been waiting all day to get in a line about Philadelphia fans and snow balls. Surprised it took this long.
