  1. Only positive I take out of this is that Matt Diaz probably gets non-tendered now, assuming Martin Prado moves to LF when Chipper comes back. I'd love for the Phillies to grab Diaz.
  2. And this trade just happened. Unreal. So, who was the one saying the Marlins are a world class organization?
  3. AND the Marlins are supposedly going to give John Buck a 3 year, $15 million contract. What the hell is going on?
  4. Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Braves and Marlins are discussing a Dan Uggla for Omar Infante and Mike Dunn trade. Interesting, and very surprising. Career utility infielder and a fringe left handed specialist for an elite offensive player at a premium position. And within the division no less. Hope this isn't true. This isn't how the Marlins usually do business.
  5. I am not optimistic at all. Just stating that something like that is probably the only way JWerth winds up back here. And yeah, I will be surprised too considering their asking price. Somebody in their front office was supposedly asked what it would take to get Upton and he replied "everything".
  6. I am already stoked for next Sunday night. Good luck to you guys (but not too much!).
  7. So, there are a whole bunch of Justin Upton related trade rumors flying around today. The D-Backs are looking for a ton in return, as they should. JP Morosi suggested that the Red Sox may get heavily involved in this. If this somehow happens, perhaps Jayson Werth falls back to the Phillies. This may get interesting.
  8. Hey, Roy Halladay wins the NL Cy Young! Pretty nice consolation prize for a disappointing finish to the season.
  9. Nobody deserves that. Payback is a [expletive], eh LaRon?
  10. They kept it around for 15 years after the Flyers and Sixers moved out for that purpose. They had a minor league hockey team play there, indoor soccer, concerts, family events, and occasionally college basketball. Supposedly, the cost of maintaining the building just isn't worth it anymore. Plus, they are planning on developing the area, so the land the Spectrum is on will be pretty valuable. South Philly is basically just the stadium complex, and other than that there isn't anything to do. Ed Snider is planning on putting in a shopping mall type thing, restaurants, perhaps a hotel, etc. I am pretty excited for it TBH.
  11. Went to the game tonight...ran into guys after the 2nd period with first row tickets. Said they were leaving, and we could take their seats for the 3rd period. Most unreal experience ever. Plus it was a great game. PLUS the Eagles are killing it. Pretty decent evening.
  12. Islanders fire Scott Gordon. Poor guy.
  13. Yeah...the little [expletive] can do that in Philly and get away with it. Terrible.
  14. Phillies hire Ryne Sandberg to manage the AAA team in Lehigh Valley. Insert witty joke here.
  15. http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g96/philsphan1210/6ims.jpg
  16. Oh yeah, the Polanco deal looks like a bargain now that he's shown he can play third base at an elite level.
  17. He is also going to be 41 years old when the contract ends (maybe older, you never know with the Cubans). I dunno, not the kind of guy I'd go multiple years with. Ruben loves giving out questionable 2 year deals. Hopefully this one works out.
  18. Phillies supposedly close on a 2 year contract with Jose Contreras. Not crazy on giving him multiple years, but I guess it was the only way to get him back. There is supposedly interest in Hisanori Takahashi as well, which I am very excited about if true.
  19. Rooting for the Cowboys feels so dirty.
  20. Lost The Sopranos Fringe Seinfeld South Park Really getting into Boardwalk Empire now. The Event is also promising, but I need to give it a full season before evaluating.
  21. Pirates hire Clint Hurdle as manager. Scratch one candidate off the Mets' list.
  22. Nah. It closed about a year ago and it has been sitting there unused ever since.
  23. Yeah after they announced it was going to be closed, the Sixers played the Bulls there for one final regular season game. March 2009 I believe. And yeah I will definitely try to go and get pics. Don't know if it will be too exciting though. They are taking it down with a wrecking ball, not blowing it up.
