Joe Nathan is pitching against the Phillies right now. He looks awful. Tiny sample size, but he is all over the place. There is no radar gun with this broadcast unfortunately, but his fastball does not look as overpowering as usual.

One of the most disgraceful pieces of sports journalism I have seen in a while. Written by (no surprise) TJ Simers. Can't believe this man is still employed. But hey, I guess he still generates tons of page views for their website.

I'd like to say, as a Yankees fan, that I am completely head over heels for Marcus Thames... The dude brought every ounce that he had to every single at-bat, was a great clubhouse personality, and seemed a genuinely good guy. Never griped over playing time, never caused commotion... came out when he was called upon, gave all that he had, and did his job. I'm legitimately furious that he was attacked like that. I hope he has a great season for LA and spits in that guy's face every time he shows up for a postgame comment.

Funny Cashman is going to attack the Mets for using a Lefty Specialist the way they are used, yet where was he when Scott Proctor pitched 100+ innings out the bullpen in 1 year?

According to the newspapers' accounts, Torre's displeasure with management goes beyond the widely reported 2007 meeting in which Cashman met with the Steinbrenners to discuss Torre's future as manager, a talk in which the GM was said to have remained neutral as the drawbacks to extending Torre's tenure were discussed.

In a later confrontation with Torre, Cashman confirmed he was quiet when the subject of offering Torre his desired two-year deal instead of one came up, the book says.

Are you saying the reason they didn't bring Torre back was because of how he used his relievers?.....

I'm not saying straight up that the Yankees didn't bring him back because of bullpen management. You were asking where Cashman was in relation to Torre's managing of the bullpen, and the quote I posted is clear indication that Cashman didn't defend him when his job was on the line. A key contributor to that may have been poor relief management.

Very speculative, but plausible I suppose...
