Tim Lincecum may ask for $20MM+ in arbitration. For those of you who are not familiar with how the arbitration system works, just know that this is absolutely unheard of. When Ryan Howard asked for $10 million a few years ago, everybody thought that was astounding. But then again, it's not like there has ever been a pitcher with two Cy Young's before they even got to their first arbitration case. I am just trying to imagine where this goes from here, if he keeps this up.

[expletive]kkkkkkkk the Mets signed Chris Coste. He is one of my favorites, it will be awful tough to see him in a Mets uniform.

To think I was just about to make a joke post about our fabolous signings of Alex Cora and Chris Coste. Yay now I get to listen to more stories about the 33 year old rookie.

Chris Coste is a really great guy, honestly one of my all time favorite Phillies as ridiculous as that may sound. I don't think he can play anymore, however, and Mets fans will realize this very soon if they have not already. He will be a hell of a manager someday, though.

And I agree that the Cora signing is an absolute joke and it illustrates why I think Omar Minaya is a terrible general manager. This team has so many holes, and Minaya gives $2 million guaranteed to Alex Cora? When there are so many younger guys who could do exactly what Cora will do (and probably more) for a quarter of the price? Don't get it, but whatever, as a Phillies fan I am not complaining.

The Tigers did not offer arbitration to Placido Polanco, which is kind of big since he is a type-A free agent. This means that if somebody other than the Tigers signs him, they do not need to give up their first round pick. I am guessing this makes him a hell of a lot more attractive to the Phillies now.

Mariners with strong interest in RHP Harden

Two major league sources told FOXSports.com that the Mariners are showing strong interest in free agent right-hander Rich Harden.

They'll have competition from the Red Sox, among others. According to the report, the market for Harden is expected to move rather quickly now that the Cubs didn't the 28-year-old arbitration. The Mariners could have a leg up considering that Harden is a native of British Columbia. Dec. 2 - 5:09 pm et

Mariners would like to sign Lackey or Harden

According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com, the Mariners would like to sign either John Lackey or Rich Harden.

As Morosi notes, the Mariners have money to spend, and according to one person familiar with the team's plans, the team is actively pursuing Lackey -- the biggest arm on the free agent market. Morosi isn't sure of the Mariners' preference, however the market on Harden is expected to develop more quickly since he wasn't offered arbitration by the Cubs this week. Braves sign Billy Wagner to one-year deal

The Atlanta Braves have agreed on a one-year contract with veteran left-handed reliever Billy Wagner.

The deal will pay Wagner $7 million in 2010 and includes a $6.5 million club option for 2011, as well as a $250,000 buyout. The option would become guaranteed if Wagner finishes 50 games next season.

Seems like the Braves are really looking to makes some moves this offseason. Glad to see we've got out there and started filling some positions up. The one thing I'm worried about is the age. We now have two relieves over the age of 35 and we're going to be relying on them all season long. I just hope they can stay healthy all season long.

Well chances are they lose Soriano and Gonzalez so they had to get some cheaper options.
